Drop-out free recording November 8, 2008 Mr. P. D. Maunder (Manchester, UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I decided to invest in these Sony 'HDV' tapes after having problems trying to record 1080i video onto standard mini DV tapes. On almost all of the mini DV tapes I tried, I experienced intermittent drop-out of both sound and video. Whilst the overall picture quality of these tapes is probably no different, they are much more reliable. I have recorded several hours worth of footage on these Sony tapes, and haven't had any problems with drop-out whatsoever. So my advice would be this: if you intend to record something at 1080i resolution which you'll only get one shot at, invest a little more in these tapes to guarantee a trouble free and reliable recording.
The Right Tape for your HDV Camcorder November 22, 2007 Tim Bentley (Shetland, UK) 16 out of 18 found this review helpful
Okay so miniDV tapes and HDV tapes can come in the same shape and size and some camcorders will let you write 1080i to your regular miniDV tapes but you are not going to get the best results unless you use the right tape for the camcorder. After switching to HDV with a Sony Camcorder and after using some high quality non-HDV miniDV tapes I switched my tape stock to Sony HDV tapes. Believe me I haven't looked back! The change in quality of recorded material is marked - colours and definition are that much more pronounced and unlike regular miniDV written to HDV content, there is no risk of frame dropout.
Why buy a quality camcorder and hobble it with inferior tape stock? You're compromising your content and not saving very much money in the long run.

Tapes were as described, well packaged, reasonably priced and arrived quickly. Exactly what I required, thanks.
Excellent Quality Tapes February 16, 2010 Andrew Stevens (Saltash Cornwall) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Have used standard DV tapes at times, but always return to Sony HDV tapes as the results are so much better - particularly when I am capturing the video on a computer for editing.
Sony Mini HDV tapes, 63 minutes. January 24, 2010 Alwev (Sheffield, UK) I would recommend these tapes 100%. If you have Hi Def you need the best. Prior to the introduction of these, I had to use ordinary tapes as I had one of the first Hi Def recorders. These tapes are stable and give 100% clean viewing whereas before I would get glitches and dropouts. My friend had the same problem. These are more expensive but well worth it if you value your footage.

Bought this set on Tuesday, delivered Friday. Absolutely brilliant! Mr Parkin York
The best bargain I have purchased. This TV (Hannspree) looks and sounds better then the well known brands, but at half the price £299. Thanks! A H London |
