Ez Grabber designed to capture video source from VHS, V8 and Hi8. You can then burn files from your PC DVD, VCD and SVCD after editingI bought this item after reviewing both negative and positive feedback.
Okay, so the manual is not so easy to understand.
1. Load cd, and install driver
2. Install EZ Grabber software
3. Restart computer, attach Grabber, open software.
4. select settings (PAL for the UK)
5. Press record
6. Edit and burn through nero/ Roxio or whichever editing software you normally use.
This was so simple, and with fantastic results for such a cheap item.
Don't spend a fortune, you don't need to, this gadget is brilliant.

Loaded the software from the supplied disc and at first the software appeared not to respond, however after a computer reboot (or two) all went well.
A small amount of trial and error to set the input and output for the capture until I was happy but the results are exactly what I expected.
I would have liked a countdown timer in the software to stop the recording automatically. My alarm clock had to suffice to give me the warning I needed that the camcorder tape had finished. I had to stop the software from recording just static when the tape had finished.
I have now transfered all my Hi8 camcorder tapes onto the computer and can now create my own home DVD's using microsofts windows movie maker and DVD maker.
The button on the hardware can be configure to stop and start the recording process which actually does help.

Thought I was taking a bit of a chance when I bought this item, as it seemed too good to be true for the money. I have to say that it has not disappointed. I have transferred some old taped footage to DVD via my laptop using the EZ Grabber. I have to say "it does what it says on the tin", a very useful product at an attractive price.

With practice and a few initial mistakes made a perfect result with family films taken 38 years ago. I am 82 years of age and so didn't expect to get it right for the first time. I converted from cine to Video by projecting the cine onto a screen and then used the grabber to do the rest.
